There is true marketing power to be found in Facebook groups, but you must be willing to do what is necessary in order to realize it. What is needed to succeed very well with Facebook groups isn’t rocket science or breaking rocks, but it takes effort to do well. Today I’ll share 5 really great and effective Facebook group marketing tips that you can take and run with – if you will.

Tip number 1: One of the keys to Facebook group  marketing success is finding where your market is, which groups to pick, and then prepare to do business there.

In order to do this, you have to look out for those groups that are closely related to your niche, so that you’re able to target your prospects where they usually hang out. You absolutely do not want to use a group only because of size and activity, you need to only use those groups that are targeted. Hopefully it makes sense that targeting the wrong group audience will be a total waste of time. The larger and more well known groups will be easily self optimized, due to the content, for the keywords you’re also targeting. If you’re dealing with a sub-niche, then you may have to do additional market analysis before going too far. You will not be happy with your results if you market to a high membership group that is less targeted, thinking the high numbers will make up for less targeted audience.

Tip number 2:  set up your Facebook page correctly to attract your niche followers and customers.  Have a nice smiley face of you as a profile picture.  Write a short description about you in the About section.  If you are following the attraction marketing strategies, you will want to be including info about you as your brand.  So listing hobbies, a bit about your past and what your vision is for the future would all be good things to include.  You DON’T have to include a link to your company.   Pay attention to your newsfeed.  People like to see pictures of what you are doing.  So posting daily or a couple times a week pics of you would be beneficial.

Tip number 3:  When posting, commenting in groups never be abusive or rude but it is okay to defend yourself. The ability to keep your composure is a sign of power, and everybody loves to follow a powerful person. It’s no secret, you have to give respect in order to gain it, so, be courteous to everyone, no matter how rude they may be to you. Many people say to stay away from heated discussions but it may be the best decision if you stick to your values. Flame wars are good, so get involved in them but be careful not to lose your composure and stick to your guns.

Tip number 4: DO NOT post your links in comments.  DO NOT spam your links in groups.  If you are adding value through a free training or a relevant blog post you wrote, then by all means create your own post with your link to that information as it could be useful information for that group. But posting your links in comments of other people’s posts is very much frowned upon and could get you kicked out of a group.

Tip number 5: Who else to follow?  As said earlier, follow groups that are related to your niche that also includes big influencers in your niche. You cannot post in these groups but you can like, comment and engage with people who would probably have the same interests as you. This is a great way to meet new people.

Facebook group marketing is very powerful for many reasons, but you should always conduct tests and experiments to increase your results. There is tons of available targeted traffic within the right group, so it’s only smart to take advantage of it. So see what is available and can be done in these groups, and then get to work.
