How To Make Your Tweets “Evergreen”

Are you getting the most out of your tweets on Twitter?  Twitter is a great social media platform to use to get your message out there and to develop a loyal fan base.  But are you getting the most out of it?  I have discussed in previous posts how to engage more people with valuable and entertaining content. The problem is if you are like most people and building a huge following, your tweets will be lost on most of your audience because it will only go through their twitter feed once.  Not only are your tweets lost to most of your audience, but you have spent a significant time creating your tweets and it would be a shame for them not to be seen by more people. By having your tweets continuously tweeted at various times throughout the day will give them an “evergreen” presence. So how can we make your content evergreen on Twitter?  The best way is to use automation tools that will continuously drip your content out to your audience.

Automation solves two problems. One it will release tweets on a continuous basis and also allows you to tweet 24 hours a day to reach audiences that aren’t in your time zone.  To get the best engagement you need to tweet a lot.  An average avid twitter user will tweet up to 20+ tweets a day and some serious business brands will tweet up to 50 times a day.  It does take time to build up enough content to tweet out 50 times a day so 20 is a good goal to have in mind.  With automation tools, you can schedule when your tweets go out.

There are a few really good tools out there to help you.  I use tweetjukebox.com  and it is terrific.  There is both a free and paid version.  I would recommend getting the paid version, which is only about 12.99/month.  But this allows you to have up to 10 “jukeboxes” (the free version allows only two).  Juke boxes are like categories.  I have juke boxes for my blog posts, for my inspirational image quotes, my product offers and I also have juke boxes for other people’s blogs or content that I find interesting and would like to tweet about.  You then can schedule over a 24 hour period your juke boxes to release a tweet.  Each juke box can be set for a different schedule.  This really adds in flexibility because I do like my inspirational quotes to go out more frequently then say my product offers.  You can also have scheduled tweets which are not in a juke box that can be scheduled as one off times say once or twice a day. There are other automation tools that do work similarily and are very popular like Socialoomph.com and Buffer.com.  It really is a personal preference.

For the best twitter experience for you and your audience, having at least 200 tweets at your disposal is another good goal to have when using automation.  With this many you will not be retweeting the same information too much which makes you appear less like a robot even though you are using an automation tool.  Again, building up to 200 pieces of content will take some time.  But in the meantime, it is perfectly acceptable to tweet other people’s content so long as you have their permission and that you give them credit.  Below gives a quick review of the types of content to be tweeting.  I mention Image Quotes as the most popular tweets but just tweeting success quotes with no images will still give you some popular valuable content that doesn’t take too much time to put together.  There are many site on google that you can use to get success quotes.

Image Quotes:  these are the most popular engagement tweets and will get you a lot of followers.  Creating image quotes doesn’t need to take a lot of time.  Canva.com or Picmonkey.com are two websites I use to make my images and once you get the hang of them, a really nice professional looking piece of content can be created.  It’s best to use high definition images.  There are plenty of websites on the internet that you can use to get images.  Using images that you just google can get you into trouble.  So using websites with free images is better, Pixel.com is just one but there are many.

Tweeting tips, a call to action to a free offer of your products or services, or an inspirational message within the image can be very powerful.

Asking Questions:  Asking questions is another good way to engage your audience.  Once you find out what they are looking for then you can have some tweets ready with solutions to their questions.

Your Product or Services: Tweeting about your products and services is something else you will want to include in your stash of tweets but use them sparingly.  The best way to build a relationship with your audience is by letting them get to know you first before pitching your offers.  It is best to only have 10-20% of actually paying offers.  You can tweet about offers but make the other 80% free.

Setting up the automation tools are quick and easy.  One benefit to Tweet Juke Box is that they do provide you with libraries of quotes and images that you can use to get you off to a good start.  I use their quote library which has some great quotes that are immediately ready for tweeting.  Take the time to put good valuable content in your automation tools.  It is virtually set it and forget it. But let’s keep it real and go in maybe once a week and add  fresh content. You then have more time for engaging with your audience to convert your followers into leads.
